How September fished

September kicked off with strong fishing, and the front half of the month offered the most consistent action. As the month progressed, the bite remained steady, though the initial run was certainly the most productive stretch. We saw a good variety of species making an appearance for anglers.

Striped Bass were a reliable target, showing up on most outings. Spotted Bass also proved to be a consistent presence, found on about half of the trips we ran. Now and then, we encountered Largemouth Bass, and occasionally, anglers had the chance to land Catfish, Gar, Crappie, or White Bass.

The fishing offered a good mix of opportunities throughout the month. While Striped Bass were a common sight, the steady presence of Spotted Bass provided additional action. Anglers also had the chance to hook into other species, making for a diverse fishing experience.

We had some excellent days on the water with our guests. Alex Vasquez, Jeff Blair, and Terrence OShaughnessy also spent time guiding anglers this month, contributing to the overall fishing success on Lake Lanier.

What October looks like on Lake Lanier

The lake starts turning over in October and bait gets pushed up onto humps and long points. We run planer boards and down lines over structure for stripers and spots, then slide shallow to work docks and rock for largemouth. Catfish and white bass are still active enough to fill in a slow stretch, and gar show up on the surface on calm mornings.
