Lake Lanier Fishing Report - April 2026
Spotted Bass were a consistent catch on every trip throughout April on Lake Lanier.
How April fished
April brought a steady fishing rhythm to Lake Lanier. We found Spotted Bass on every outing, a reliable target for our anglers. Striped Bass also made a consistent appearance on all trips, providing a solid presence throughout the month. The front half of April offered a particularly strong run of opportunities.
Catfish were a frequent addition to our catches, showing up on most trips. Now and then, we also encountered Gar and Largemouth Bass. Crappie made a brief appearance, being landed on just one occasion during the month.
The days themselves offered a pleasant fishing experience. We enjoyed calm and recreational trips, with rods bent consistently. The weather provided a perfect backdrop for good company and successful angling, making for memorable outings on the water.
Throughout the month, the Striped Bass bite remained steady, offering a consistent experience for those on board. This reliability, combined with the frequent Spotted Bass, ensured that anglers had plenty of action. The mix of species kept things interesting, from the common Bass to the occasional Gar.

What May looks like on Lake Lanier
The thermocline starts to set up and bait pushes deeper on the humps and ledges. Largemouth and crappie are still locked in and biting well, stripers and spots stay steady out over deep structure, and catfish start showing up strong on cut bait around the flats near the dam. We adjust depth through the month as the water column settles.
