March Report - Top Water!

lake-lanier-striper-guide

This past week the bite has been really good with the water temp finally getting in the low 60’s. The fish are putting on the feed to get ready to spawn. Most of them are still back in the creeks but some are showing up out over the river channel.

Free lines and split shot free lines with blue back herring 80-100 ft behind the boat has been the best bite for me. When the they are scattered out in open water, a good spread of planner boards will get you a few extra bites.

Keep a Sebile or Bucktail ready for when they decide to start blowing up on the surface. Tuesday was a killer top water day, they stayed up for close to 4 hours. Check out this crazy video of the top water action from tuesday where they were just blowing up! We had 6-7 fish hooked up at the same time, it was hectic.
